C-3PO: Shiniest Robot of Them All

C3P-O DIY Costume by Made for Little Gents

Happy Halloween! As the 3rd and final installment of this year’s Star Wars Halloween costumes, I bring you C-3PO, the finest, shiniest, brightest robot of them all. (See Chewbacca and BB-8 too!)

As I mentioned in this post, Mr. R loves robots. He wants to build them, read about them, and dress up as them. In fact, we realized just a few years ago we did a variation on this year’s theme where Mr. R was R2-D2 and Mr. A was an Ewok (basically a mini version of Chewie, right?). So obviously, C-3PO was the proper costume choice for this Halloween!

The construction for this costume was the simplest out of all three Star Wars costumes. The entire costume base is made out of this gold knit from Jo-Ann, with the exception of the black knit used for the bodice. I used a couple patterns I had on hand for the body: GYCT’s Bowmont Tee and Ellie and Mac’s Kid’s Joggers. Jo-Ann has these fantastic colorful elastic cords that I cut up and sewed onto the bodice for C-3PO’s wires. The gloves were made by tracing Mr. R’s hand, adding seam allowance and a little extra for wiggle room, and sewing mirrored sides together.

My children are young enough that they enjoy dressing up together in a theme for Halloween. Several months ago the plan was to do The Wizard of Oz, but after dreading all the tulle I’d need to sew for my epic Glinda costume, Mr. A announced he wanted to be Chewbacca for Halloween. No matter that we’ve done Star Wars costumes a few years ago, we can do it all over again! So with that, the Star Wars threesome was born. See Baby-8 (BB-8) here, and the next one in the saga will appear next week!

DIY Baby 8 – BB-8 Full of Cuteness!

Halloween is at the end of this month! Eek!!! I. Am. SO EXCITED! Halloween has been my favorite holiday since I was a kid, and now with kids of my own, it continues to be so. My husband thinks its ironic because I can’t stand scary movies and anything that spooks me, really. But I love the cute parts of Halloween. The cutesy spiders and ghosts, the creative Jack-O-Lanterns, and oh the costumes! I’ve always associated dressing up only with Halloween, but especially with this blog as a creative outlet I realized I can really make costumes all year long. Maybe one a month even! Would you like that? I know I would. 😀

DIY Baby 8 - BB-8 Full of Cuteness! by Made for Little Gents

This year’s costumes are featuring the ever popular Star Wars characters. BB-8, or “Baby-8” as I am affectionately calling him, is coming out to play today, and you’ll see the rest of the gang appear over the next month. BB-8 is appearing here as part of the Magnificent Wizards Blog Tour (make sure to stay around until the end of the post to see more entries on the tour). Doesn’t Baby-8 look so soft, squishy, and ready to roll? Mr. L still isn’t quite sitting up on his own yet, so this costume is perfect for letting him practice falling over! And I can just see him rolling over on his belly and back trying to keep up with Rey and Poe on their latest mission.
