Do you sew pajamas for your kids for Christmas? To tell you the truth, this is my first year doing it. I’ve sewn pajamas for my boys before, but never specifically for the holiday season! Thanks to the Boys in Pajamas Blog Tour sponsored by Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop, I had an excellent reason to do so. As part of this tour, there is a giveaway for $20 credit to Peek-a-boo Patterns so you can sew up your own awesome pajamas for free (and anything else you want while you’re at it!). Make sure to enter via the Rafflecopter Giveaway at the end of this post!
There aren’t enough words to describe how great Peek-a-boo patterns are. I made this swim outfit for Mr. L using one of her patterns, and I have a couple more creations that haven’t made it here on the blog yet. These pajamas were made using the Classic Zipper PJs pattern. This pattern can be sewn with or without feet, made into shorts and short sleeves, and the length of the zipper can be full or half. My older two are sporting leg cuffs while Mr. L got to have footies to keep his itty baby feet warm at night.
The skill level for these is intermediate, and I agree – zippers make it more difficult, and the pattern is a bit more involved than just sewing up a tee. However, the instructions are very detailed and the designer, Amy, provides Youtube videos for additional instructions and makes it easy to obtain additional help by asking her directly or joining the Facebook group.
I also recommend not trying to rush sewing these and skipping instructions. I may have done this and neglected several very important details, namely not getting enough fabric, incorrectly cutting the front, and sewing the wrong pieces together on all three pajamas. Sheesh, Sunni! Not sure where my head has been lately… But after lots of unpicking I think they turned out ok in the end, and these precious smiles always make it so worth it!
I wanted my three to have some cute matching pjs they can wear up till Christmas that are holiday themed, then for Christmas I plan to give them some they will really like (read: shark pajamas for my shark obsessed Mr. R). Jo-Ann always has great sales on their flannel, so I grabbed these coordinating moose and bear fabrics for all three. When I make them matching clothing I usually do it all identical, but I love that they are wearing different fabrics but still go together. And oh, do these prints make me swoon!
Mr. A wanted in on the action for the above picture, then Mr. R, who had already changed into his regular clothing for the day, thought he should join in too. I couldn’t resist sharing this gem. 🙂
So tell me, what you are sewing up for your littles this holiday season? While you’re at it, enter the giveaway at the end of this post to win some free patterns to sew up!
